One of the most noticeable differences on campus this semester was the renovation of the student convenience store, Herb’s Place.

Herb’s Place offers quick and easy access to snacks, drinks and toiletries. Students may use their student ID card and Trojan Points to pay for items in the store.

“A lot of people will get the cold drinks from here, mostly Coke products,” said Akril Bakhadyo, one of the employees at Herb’s Place who is a graduate student studying computer science from Bhaktapur, Nepal. “My personal favorite is the slushy machine and the hot chocolate.”

Herb’s Place added a slushy machine that is filled with two flavors: Farmer’s Punch, which is a berry blend, and Strawberry Dragon Fruit. This machine has come to be a fan favorite amongst students.

“I come in multiple times a week,” said Dylan Park, a senior interdisciplinary studies major from Gwangju, South Korea. “I really love the new slushy machine and the flavors.”

However, one of the other notable additions to this convenient store is a Starbucks self-serve coffee machine that allows students to brew coffee, hot chocolate, espresso and more. This allows students to grab a quick pick-me-up during their day.

Herb’s Place also offers a variety of foods, including chips, ramen, sandwiches and ice cream. Snacks are a main part of the store’s inventory, and it has even introduced some new ones to the floor as well, including peanut butter dates.

Herb’s Place has also made renovations to the layout of the store, adding a snack wall and opening up space on the floor to make items easier to see and access.

“It’s easier to find stuff,” said Taylor Hartin, a junior general business major from Brewton, Alabama. “There’s more stuff on the walls, and it’s not just all on shelves. It looks newer, too.”

“Herb’s is really convenient for when I need a late-night boost or when I have a sweet tooth and I don’t have anything in my dorm,” Park said. “It’s literally two or three minutes from my dorm, so it’s great to just swing by and get something.”

Herb’s Place is a hotspot for all students due to its convenience and bringing people together.

“My favorite thing about Herb’s is meeting new people,” Bakhadyo said. “Since I came to America, I was only limited to my community and people of my country.

‘After coming to Herb’s Place, I get to meet all types of new people.”

To see Herb’s Place and its new renovations, the store is located in the same building as Trojan Village 400, on the ground floor facing Collegedale Street.
