After over a decade of serving the Trojan family, Jessi Dansby is stepping into a new role as a membership coordinator for Troy University’s Office of Alumni Affairs.

Before her time with the university, Dansby spent 11 years with the 12th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, serving Pike and Coffee counties. After her tenure in government, she started working in Troy’s Office of Development.

Since June 2022, she has served as donor relations specialist, gearing up towards her new role.

“Personally, this role represents growth, opportunity and purpose,” Dansby said. “It allows me to combine my passion for Troy University with my professional experience in engagement and relationship-building.

“Through the past ten years I have had the honor and privilege of meeting and working alongside the best and brightest students, the most dedicated donors and alumni and the most passionate faculty and staff. To be able to serve them all in this new capacity is truly a dream come true.”

For Dansby, the move to alumni affairs felt like a natural fit.

“I was drawn to alumni affairs because it’s all about connection and legacy,” Dansby said. “Alumni are such an important part of the Trojan family, and I love the idea of helping them stay engaged long after graduation.

“Being able to serve the people who continue to support and represent Troy University is incredibly meaningful to me.”

In her new role, Dansby will focus on fostering relationships across alumni chapters and ensuring graduates feel valued well beyond commencement day.

To Dansby, membership isn’t about transactions; it’s about a sense of belonging.

“Membership isn’t just about numbers; it’s about creating value and ensuring alumni feel seen, appreciated and involved,” Dansby said. “It’s about building relationships that last well beyond a single event or interaction.

“If I can do that correctly, the memberships will follow.”

As Dansby steps into her new role, her message to alumni is simple: connection never fades.

“You will always have a home here at Troy,” Dansby said. “Your journey with the university does not end at graduation; it continues through connection, community and shared pride in being a Trojan.

“We care about you, your journey and the role you continue to play in the Trojan family.”

I read the post, and it looks like the school is sharing a news story about how someone has been named to help manage alumni chapters and support events for past students, bringing people together after graduation. It reminded me of a semester when I was so overwhelmed I got an online statistics class help service so I had time to catch up on both campus news and my own studies. That mix of school life and helping hands made me see how much support makes stressful days easier.
