Another Workshop Wednesday has been provided by Troy University’s Student Career Services. This Week’s Workshop Wednesday Resume Blitz gave students the opportunity to strengthen or start their resumes.

“It can be hard to find a job after college,” said Jennifer Holbert, a program adviser for Troy University Career Services. “We want our students to stand out, start networking early, come to career fairs and have all the help they need to land a great job they love.

“We want every student to know Career Services is for every Troy student and to reach out to us.”

The Resume Blitz workshop was held in the Trojan Center where several career service advisors were available for students to walk in and work one-on-one with an advisor to help improve their resumes or even create a resume from start to finish.

“For the [students] who have created resumes, we make sure the resume actually highlights them in the proper way, free of mistakes and lists all of the information that's relevant for their education and make sure that their experiences catch the attention of the employer,” said Arminda McKee, director of Career Services. “We want to slowly introduce students to things they can work on in college instead of compiling everything at the last minute.”

Workshop Wednesdays are a career services segment offered each week with a different goal every session.

“The goal of Workshop Wednesdays is to help support students to become career ready,” said Alicia Cook, assistant director for career services “We hope students who come into our office are met with kindness and encouragement and see the value in the services we offer.”

The career center offers a wide range of services to assist students in finding a career path and preparing for the workforce after graduation. These services include choosing a major, creating a resume, conducting mock interviews, and they even have a career closet that provides students with business casual clothing.

Students can stop by the career service office at 124 Eldridge Hall for resources and stay up to date on Workshop Wednesdays through their student email or through the career services Instagram @troyucareer.

Workshop sessions like this really help students feel ready for jobs after college. Learning how to build a strong CV and present skills clearly is very useful. Many students also choose to work with a resume writer to improve their resumes and attract employers.
