Candidates for Miss Troy University title gathered at interest meeting
The Miss Troy University organization held an interest meeting for students looking for their opportunity for the crown last Thursday.
Young students filed in for the meeting looking forward to learn more about their chance to be Miss Troy University. Being Miss Troy University offers more than just a $7,500 scholarship – it also gives the opportunity to represent Troy University and the chance to support a personal cause.
The Miss Troy University pageant is a preliminary for Miss Alabama and Miss America. Miss Troy University is uniquely available only to Troy University students.
Hopeful crown holders must be between the ages of 18 and 25, currently enrolled at Troy University and signed up to participate. There is also a mandatory $50 fee.
According to Angie Grice, the co-director of Miss Troy University, Miss Troy University is a very public facing role.
“We are looking for somebody who really loves the school and is willing to represent it,” Grice said.
Anna Grace Tucker, a senior business major also minoring in performing arts, currently sits as Miss Troy University and attended the meeting. She was asked how being Miss Troy University changed her life.
“I definitely would not have met as many people as I have and gotten the opportunities I did,” Tucker said. “Having all of these organizations reach out to you and want you to speak and just be with them is incredible.”
Another interest meeting will be held in the Adams Administrative building on Sept. 17 at 4 p.m. for students who are interested.
