Matthew Thompson, a sophomore accounting and economics major from Montgomery, is the Student Government Association’s newly appointed president. “I am extremely humbled and excited for the opportunity to serve as the next SGA president,” Thompson said. “I am blessed by the people who surround me, and I would never have been in the position that I am without them. I am sincerely grateful for my supporters. I hope through my work ethic I will leave a lasting, positive mark on our great university.” Thompson won presidency with 52.8 percent of the student body vote. Thompson is the brother of Will Thompson, who served as SGA’s 2012-2013 president.
