We must acknowledge Palestine

After five months of an Israeli-Palestinian ceasefire agreement, the death toll of Gaza civilians climbs. Prior to the ceasefire, over 67,000 Palestinians died and more than 169,000 injured. Since the ceasefire, over 600 Palestinians have died and at least 1,600 injured; with Israel violating said ceasefire agreement at least 1,620 times since Oct. 10, 2025.

With violence against Palestinians continuing since the ceasefire, the origination of Hamas must be examined. Hamas gets the blame of the genocide occurring in Gaza, but not those who directly funded and supported the organization.

With American and Israeli support, the royal family in Qatar has been funding Hamas as well as Palestinian civilians since 2012. After the U.S. requested so, Qatar hosted the headquarters of Hamas the same year Israel allowed funding to enter Gaza.

According to Israeli intelligence members, since 2018, millions of dollars have been escorted into the Gaza strip by the Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad. A deal was made between Israel and Qatar to continuously fund Palestinian civilians and Hamas. This deal was made by Israel with the goal being to divide the people of Palestine (the Palestinian Authority and Hamas) so that negotiations for a two-state solution would be avoided.

This has not gone unnoticed by the Israeli people, as recent polling reflects that most Israelis blame their Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for Israel’s vulnerability on the Hamas attack on Oct. 7, 2024.

This blame toward Netanyahu stems from a Likud faction meeting in 2019, where the Prime Minister is quoted as saying “whoever is against a Palestinian state should be for transferring the funds to Gaza, because maintaining a separation between the PA in the West Bank and Hamas in Gaza helps prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state.”

Hamas being the cause for the violence occurring in Gaza is a farce. The Israeli government is seeking excuses to hide behind to justify their genocide of the Palestinian people, who have just as much a right to be on their land as Israelis. This skewed perspective is created by Israel and Benjamin Netanyahu himself to distract from the fact that they orchestrated the systemic killing of an entire race of people.

Hamas has been used as a tool by the Israeli government. What is happening to the people of Palestine deserves to be acknowledged, truthfully and without bias. The purposeful killing of Palestinians is a crime, and Benjamin Netanyahu is the culprit.
