Students showed out through their creativity with markers and paint brushes at Troy University's Activities Council’s Paint Night last Wednesday in the Trojan Center Ballrooms.

Refreshments were offered, and pop music bopped in the background while students talked amongst themselves as they were painting and drawing.

“I am painting Naruto and Spider Man since I just saw them and like them,” said Ryhein Fuller, a freshman geology major from Bainbridge, Georgia. “I like connecting with everybody when I come to an event like this one.

“Anything that UAC puts on is going to be good.”

Students were able to pick which material they would like to paint on. The options included mini boots, tote bags, mini gardening pots, flowers, canvases and cut-out objects.

“We just wanted to do a chill event,” said UAC Secretary Javius Pruitt, a junior early childhood education major from Birmingham, Alabama. “The Stanley cup (cutouts) are my favorite.

“We switch up the activities to help with mental health. We play a part in social activities and social outings, so we try to bring about the social experience with our events.”

A few of the other artworks that were painted consisted of Disney characters, anime characters, words of affirmation, nature, superheroes, villains and holiday-themed settings.

“I was trying to do something in the season, like Christmas,” said Gabriella Castaneda, a sophomore exercise science major from Destin, Florida. “I’m doing a gingerbread man, and I hope it doesn't fail me, so we'll see what happens.

“I came out to hang out with my new friend that I made, and I'm excited to be here since it looks like a lot of people come out here. I like seeing people communicate at these types of events, and I look forward to going to more UAC events.”

At the end of the night, students were able to take home their creations after sharing what they made with UAC by taking pictures.

UAC plans to put together a Sushi Night for its next event. To stay up to date on what the organization has planned, visit @troyuac on Instagram.

To join the UAC Committee and help out with events, attend one of its Monday meetings at 5 p.m. in TC 119.
