Students gathered in Patterson 105 for a special showing of the horror film “Sinners” last Wednesday night.

Troy’s University Activities Council put on this movie night to get students into the Halloween spirit.

“Tonight's turnout was better than expected,” said UAC President Jamie Parker, who is a junior nursing major from Millbrook, Alabama. “The environment really gave a theater vibe with the way everything was set up.

“We want to make sure we keep a festive vibe around campus by showing spooky movies for the spooky holiday, and then we will be showing Christmas movies for the Christmas holiday. It’s all in staying festive.”

Popcorn was provided, and students brought their own snacks and drinks to munch on while witnessing the jump scares and action-packed motions in the movie.

“The movie was pretty good,” said Javori Glenn, a freshman business management major from Dothan, Alabama. “I watched it already, so I just came to hang out with my friends.

“This is the first UAC event I’ve been to, so I feel like they really should do this again. It brings people closer. You meet new people, as well.”

Side commentary and laughter were made for a variety of exciting scenes in the movie.

“I have seen the movie before, but it was still refreshing to see it again,” said Jahzara Gadson, a freshman exercising physiology major from Minneapolis, Minnesota. “All of the stuff I didn't pay attention to the first time, I did see it tonight.

“A lot of people did show up and show out. It was very funny from the side commentary, but I still had a good time.”

UAC is currently planning on holding a Do It Yourself (DIY) event for its next event. The organization encourages all students to come out and have a good time.

“UAC events just bring a lot of good energy and a lot of good people together to have good, safe and quality fun with a bunch of people you don't know,” Gadson said. “It's my second time coming to one of these, and it's just always fun and good energy.”
