Growing up, all I have ever known is sports. It’s all I’ve talked about my entire life. From obsessing over stats and scores, to attending as many events as possible, it is an obsession.
What better way to use that obsession than to write about it? Being able to cover Troy Sthletics has given me remarkable experiences. I covered multiple Sun Belt championships for men’s basketball and have traveled to several states to cover the “school we love.”
My favorite thing about being with the Trop is not writing though. It’s the connections and great experiences that have come with them.
When I was a freshman, I mentioned my interest in play-by-play broadcasting. I had tried and tried to find opportunities to do so but could never get my foot in the door. It was not until our very own faculty adviser, Dr. Hanna Cooper, offered me the chance to put on the headset along with her for a Troy softball game on ESPN+ that I got my start.

Because of that opportunity, I’ve been able to be on broadcasts for nearly every sport, including major upsets and milestone events. I also get to work outside of The Tropolitan with our sports editor, Caleb Thomas.
I am so grateful for the chance to write for this paper, and cherish the memories made with it, and the memories still yet to be made with those I have grown to be friends with here. Here’s to the school we love!
