Senior Farewells: Sarah Campbell

Wow. It’s hard to believe that my time at Troy University is finally coming to an end. I have had such an incredible journey throughout my time here, and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store.
Looking back, it’s hard to recognize the shy, quiet girl I was when I first stepped into the Hall School. Now, I look into the mirror and see the confident young journalist and woman I have become. I have Troy to thank for that.
Storytelling has always been something that’s been important to me, and I have been so fortunate to share my love and passion for journalism here in the Hall School of Journalism and Communication. My experience with TrojanVision and The Tropolitan has been one I will never forget, and I am so blessed to carry these beautiful memories with me as I take the next steps.
Being involved with student campus media has equipped me with the tools I can now carry forward as I begin my career. I have learned so much during my time here, and I can say with confidence that this experience has been a pivotal part in my life. Over the past three years, I have changed, adapted and grown to become more confident in myself and my abilities as a journalist.
I would like to thank Paige Ray, Aaron Taylor and Jeff Herring for all of the support and guidance during my time at TrojanVision, especially as I transitioned into the role of Student News Director. Gifting me more than just valuable experience and leadership skills, TrojanVision has also given me a home and family that I will cherish forever.
Thank you to Hanna Cooper, who encouraged me to branch out as a journalist and showed me that I am capable of much more than I think. Although I didn’t begin writing for The Tropolitan until later in my college journey, it was an experience I am so grateful I was able to have.
To all of my teachers in the Hall School of Journalism and Communication, thank you for all of your guidance. Your willingness and dedication have helped shape me into the determined journalist I am today, and I cannot wait to take everything I have learned with me as I step into the professional world.
Finally, to the many friends I was blessed to meet: you are what makes leaving so hard.
Without my involvement in student publications, I would never have met the many amazing people that I now value as some of my closest friends. Your continued support and love have meant the world to me, and I will miss all of you more than you can imagine.
As I get closer and closer to crossing the stage and taking my final steps as a Troy student, I can rest easy knowing I am leaving with memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
My experience at Troy University has been more than I could have ever asked for, and for that I am so grateful. Although I’m not sure exactly what comes next, I know that I’ll be ready.
To everyone who has made my journey so memorable, this is not goodbye. This is a see you later.
With much love,
Sarah Campbell
