Troy’s Theatre and Dance Department is gearing up for its first production of the semester, “Tempo,” and the performers and production team are excited as they begin putting together the final touches.

“We have done everything we can to adequately prepare ourselves for the early show,” said Gabby Deaton, a senior dance major from Jacksonville, Florida who is the student associate director of “Tempo.” “We wanted to ensure that this was not just a showcase of the talent we have here in the theatre and dance department, but that it was a show displaying the true artistry in a professional and cohesive way.”

The production is meant to use fluctuation in tempos, from fast to slow and vice versa, to control the energy level of each moment and each piece while creating a show that was as dynamic an experience as possible.

“Picturing soundwaves is a good way to understand the vision for the show: the rise and fall of different waves, all connected seamlessly,” Deaton said.

This show is particularly important for Deaton, since it is the final show of her senior year here at Troy and she says it’s one she’s proud of.

The show will be held in the Trojan Center Theater on Feb 13 to 16 and then the week followed on Feb. 20 to 23.

Tickets can be bought at online.
