Senior Farewells: Alaina Burnham

2,071 days ago, I toured Troy University for the first time as a junior in high school, 1,669 days ago I decided to attend Troy University and study global business, and 1,359 days ago I started my freshman year at Troy University.

Those 1,359 days went by really fast! It is hard to believe that in just 15 days I will be walking across the stage and receiving my bachelor’s degree. I am so grateful to all the incredible people who have helped me along the way.

Thank you to my professors for believing in me, my friends for all the movie nights, silly moments, and being there to laugh (or cry) with, my family for always being in my corner and cheering me on, and Lord Jesus above for blessing me and helping me through it all.

I have been a part of many different things over the course of my academic career, and I am so thankful that I stepped outside my comfort zone. When I started at Troy, I was nervous and uncertain, but now I am confident and trust myself. I attribute much of that growth to my study abroad trips, Toastmasters and all the time I devoted to my mental health.

It is amazing how one choice can change the trajectory of your life. Today, I stand before you to say I am grateful for my choice to come to Troy University. Although my college career was filled with trials and tribulations, it was also filled with bliss and joyfulness. I am saddened that this chapter of my life is ending and will miss all the amazing people I have met.

Thank you for all the wonderful memories, I will hold onto them forever and a day!
